Tastes of home: Creating a Welcoming Haven for the Family.

Interior Designer Skye Bryant breathes new life into a Sydney Kitchen creating that very special feeling of home for a family relocating after years abroad.

Can you tell us a little bit about your self, your business and what you do?

Hi, I"m Skye an interior designer. I work alongside my builder husband. We have a residential building and interior design business based in the Sutherland Shire.

Skye can you share with us an overview of the kitchen styling project you worked on. What were goals for this project?

The brief was to style a rental property ready for a family relocating from overseas . They wanted a coastal style and relaxed feel ready for them to move in with only their bags .

Did you work with the clients during the design process? Were there any specific requests or preferences that significantly influenced the final outcome?

Not close at all, I was actually given a lot of freedom. The clients were completely time poor and I was only given a small time frame to complete the project.
I sent off two initial mood boards for the direction I’d like them to go with and they loved them .I was really lucky they were really great clients .

Could you share some insights into the final touches and styling elements that were added to complete the kitchen styling?

The kitchen styling pieces were added to create warmth and a homely feel to the property. I used styling pieces and colours that complimented the overall scheme of the property.

How did you ensure that the overall styling reflected the client's personality and lifestyle?

Initial conversations and questionnaires really help to gauge where the direction of where your clients want to end up , then mood boards to really cement the overall feel . Some clients really need the visuals to help them understand their styles, what they like and what they don't like..

What advice or tips do you have for homeowners considering a kitchen renovation or redesign?

Engage in an interior designer to help! Prioritise functionality by ensuring the design not only looks appealing but also serves the need and lifestyle of the occupants .

Are there any current trends or timeless design principles that you would recommend to our readers?

Earthy tones and timber elements are really on trend at the moment. Be consistent with themes, colours and or materials to achieve a cohesive look .
