Discover the perfect harmony of flavours with our steak sandwich featuring tender ribeye or sirloin steaks, Accompanied by a sumptuous beetroot relish. This delectable creation offers a savoury symphony with a touch of sweetness.

Ingredients:

For the Steak:

  • 2 Ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 8 oz each)

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary

  • 1 sprig fresh thyme

For the Beetroot Relish:

  • 2 medium beetroots, peeled and grated

  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped

  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

  • Salt and black pepper to taste.

For Assembling the Sandwich:

  • 4 slices of your favorite bread (ciabatta, baguette, or sourdough work well)

  • 2-3 tablespoons mayonnaise

  • Fresh lettuce leaves

  • Sliced tomatoes

  • Sliced red onion (optional)

  • Sliced avocado (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Beetroot Relish:

  1. In a saucepan, combine the grated beetroots, finely chopped red onion, balsamic vinegar, honey, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper.

  2. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes or until the beetroot mixture has thickened and the beetroots are tender. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Step 2: Season and Cook the Steak:

Season the ribeye or sirloin steaks generously with salt and black pepper.

  1. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over high heat. Add minced garlic, rosemary, and thyme sprigs.

  2. Place the steaks in the hot skillet and cook to your desired level of doneness, usually 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, depending on the thickness of the steaks. Remove from heat and let them rest for a few minutes.

Step 3: Assemble the Sandwich: Toast the slices of bread until they are lightly browned.

  1. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each bread slice.

  2. Place fresh lettuce leaves on one bread slice, followed by slices of tomato and, if desired, sliced red onion and avocado.

  3. Top with the cooked steak slices and spoonfuls of the beetroot relish.

  4. Place another slice of bread on top to create a sandwich.

Step 4: Serve: Cut the steak sandwich in half and serve immediately.

You can also serve it with a side of potato chips or a salad.
